Tbilisi State Medical University Student Self-Government is a representative body of the university, with independent structural units and governing bodies. Tbilisi State Medical University Student Self-Government implements its authority in compliance with the Law of Georgia on Higher Education and the charter of the Tbilisi State Medical University, both inside and outside the university. TSMU Student Self-Government was established in 2006.
Within the framework of its authority, the goal of Tbilisi State Medical University Student Self-Government is to protect and represent the rights and legal interests of the students, to support students in realization their rights, to help them receive quality education, to create environment for students’ leisure and work and to diversify the students’ life. As a consequence, the team plans and develops various educational-scientific, social, cultural and sport activities.
Tbilisi State Medical University Student Self-Government has developed more than 3000 projects, locally and internationally. Within the framework of the project “Your Education = Your Health” the society was provided with detailed and reliable information about various diseases hepatitis C, flues, measles, cancer. The team collaborates with non-governmental organizations, charities and other institutions. Student Self-Government consists of 126 delegates. They are elected by universal, direct and secret ballot for a period of two years.
