Retraining in Neighboring medical specialties is carried out through passing a part of Residency program. The list of neighboring medical specialties is determined by the order of the Minister of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia(# 136 / n April 18, 2007)
Doctors, who have more than 5 years of clinical work experience, must undergo an individual program that is approved by the Professional Development Council at the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairsof Georgia, based on the recommendation of the author of the residency program and/or professional association. Two specialties are exceptionin which retraining programs are approved - "Family Medicine" and "Emergency Medicine" (in the case of emergency medicine 3 years of clinical experience is needed)
In case of less than 5 years of medical practice, the applicant should only pass the part of the residency program (modules) which is not included in the residency program of the medical specialty,he/she already holds the state certificate.
