“Nurses Make a Difference” - November 14 World Diabetes Day (WDD)

On November 14, 2020 regarding the World Diabetes Day, campaign aiming raising awareness of crucial roles nurses play in supporting people living with diabetes was held in Tbilisi. The event was organized by Welfare Foundation, Lions Eye Diabetic Clinic – Georgia and Tbilisi State Medical University. TSMU students were actively involved in the event. 

Current event was especially interesting, dedicated to promotion of the early prevention and management of diabetes and special role of nurses in the treatment of diabetic patients. World Diabetes Day responded to the World Health Organization (WHO) report. The report highlights that diabetic patients are one of the most vulnerable groups suffering from the COVID-19 pandemic.

TSMU Associate Professor and Head of the project, Nino Karanadze noted that the event is a message to patients suffering from diabetes in order to pay more attention to their health and live according to the doctors assignments. Executive Director of Welfare Foundation, Simon Gabritchidze highlighted the problems connected to the health service provision to diabetic patients amid global pandemic. TSMU students exhibited informative and thematic posters at the event.
