Presentation "New Step towards Integration in European Scientific Space – New Opportunities for Scientists"

On October 25, 2019 Presentation, "New Step towards Integration in European Scientific Space – New Opportunities for Scientists" was held at Tbilisi State Medical University. The event was attended by Mikheil Batiashvili, The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia and Zviad Gabisonia, the General Director of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia. The presentation was opened by Prof. Zurab Vadachkoria, TSMU Rector. 

Minister, Mikheil Batiashvili declared, “From January 1, the European Scientific Space will be opened for Georgian scientists, institutions and universities. Nearly 2 billion euros will be allocated on Georgian and European research projects annually.” 

Zviad Gabisonia noted, “For the first time, Georgian scientists will have direct access to domestic and international funds and grant competitions in pan-European countries.” He underlined the importance of Horizon Europe Program starting from 2021 and benefits of Georgia by joining the EURAXESS, gaining direct access to about $100 billion budgets. At the EURAXESS Board Meeting in Brussels it was noted that a new, scientific visa regime will be put into action for the EURAXESS partner countries and separate grant competition will be announced for Eastern European countries”.  The General Director of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia presented mission, vast opportunities and services of EURAXESS to TSMU academic staff.

Prof. Zurab Vadacjkoria, TSMU Rector stated: “Nobody could have imagined the recent development of Georgia leading us to integration into European Educational Area via EURAXESS. The given opportunity to Georgian researchers and scientists enhances scientific collaboration with European partners.”
