President of Georgia – Salome Zourabichvili Visited TSMU Mikhail Shengelia Museum of Georgian Medicine History

On January 6, 2020 TSMU Mikhail Shengelia Museum of Georgian Medicine History was visited by Salome Zourabichvili, the President of Georgia, Zaza Bokhua, Deputy Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia and Nunu Mitskevichi, the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia. Professor Ramaz Shengelia, the Director of the Museum introduced unique archeological artefacts, ancient Kolkhian and Iberian medical materials to the guests. The President of Georgia noted: “Georgia has a unique and rich history. Our motherland is the country of Medea, thus we have to collect all the ancient resources and show the rest of the world our richest artefacts. I would like to thank the museum for its contribution to the history of Georgian medicine”.  

TSMU Mikhail Shengelia Museum of Georgian Medicine History was renovated in 2018 and the opening ceremony was connected with the 50th anniversary of the museum and 100th anniversary of the first director of the museum – Mikhail Shengelia. 

More than 19 000 exponents are collected in the museum and represents the material-teaching base of Tbilisi state Medical University.
