June 14 is World Blood Donor Day. The event serves to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood. Nearly 10-15 thousand people need blood transfusion every year in Georgia. Even one-time blood donation can save three lives.

On World Blood Donor Day, Tbilisi State Medical University, Ingorokva High Medical Technology University Clinic, TSMU Student Self Government, Georgian Pharmaceutical Student's Association and the European Medical Students´ Association (EMSA) organized non-remunerable blood donation activity at TSMU. 

TSMU students, academic and administrative staff, representatives of the university sports federation and students from different universities participated in the donation activity.
