On August 27-31, International Association for Medical Education (AMEE) hybrid Conference was organized in Lyon (France). The conference was attended by a delegation from the Tbilisi State Medical University, Professor Khatuna Todadze, TSMU Vice Rector, Professor Gaiane Simonia, Head of the Academic Development and Strategic Planning Department, Salome Voronovi, Deputy Head of the Academic Development and Strategic Planning Department, Professor Archil Undilashvili, Department of Physical Rehabilitation Policy and Strategic Management, Professor Zurab Orjonikidze, TSMU Chancellor (virtually), Professor Rima Beriashvili, Department of Cytopathology (virtually), Eka Ekaladze, Director of USMD Program (virtually), Nino Tevzadze, Deputy Director of USMD Program (virtually), Gvantsa Vardosanidze and Nino Shiukashvili, USMD Program chief specialists.

AMEE International Networking Center in Georgia presented a three-year working report. A separate area was dedicated to the information desk about the achievements of the AMEE International Networking Center in Georgia in the exhibition hall of the conference.
On May 23, 2019 an International Association for Medical Education (AMEE) International Networking Center in Georgia was founded at Tbilisi State Medical University. More than 110 countries are under the umbrella of the association. AMEE International Networking Center in Georgia is the second international center in the world. Georgia became a Regional International hub in Medical Education which is one of the most important events on the way to integration to the European Higher Education Area.
Tbilisi State Medical University, Faculty of Medicine students’ Elene Maisuradze, Veriko Revia and Nini Jgharkava Project “First Steps in Medical Practice '' was announced as the winner among the students’ projects at the opening ceremony of the conference.
AMEE International Networking Center in Georgia co-chair, Salome Voronovi was invited as the moderator of the session” Faculty Development – Broadening the Scope of Practice”. Studies conducted at Edinburg, Bristol and Canadian universities were discussed during the session. Within the framework of the USMD Program “Become a doctor” the 360-degree evaluation pilot project (E.Ekaladze, N. Tevzadze, G. Vardosanidze, N. Shiukashvili) was presented at the faculty development session..
At the final session of the conference, AMEE newly elected president, Subha Ramani and AMEE executive director Anne Lloyd were officially announced.
During the conference TSMU delegation met international partners Professor David Gordon, President of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME), AMEE ex-presidents Professors Trevor Gibbs, Trudie Roberts and Madalena Patricio, AMSE President Harm Peters, Professor Olle Ten Cate, University Medical Center Utrecht and University of California, Professors David Taylor, Pol Jones and Lawrence Sherman. The TSMU delegation also exchanged information with the representatives from the world-class medical education companies (NBME, Lecturio, Amboss, Sectra, etc.) and planned the future cooperation opportunities.
