Anniversary of Tbilisi State Medical University was congratulated by the members of the Georgian government

The history of higher medical education in Georgia starts from the medical faculty established at Tbilisi State University in 1918. On June 10, 1930 by the decision of the Faculty Council, the Faculty of Medicine was separated from Tbilisi State University and an independent higher education institution was established. The Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli congratulated the 91st anniversary to the TSMU.

“Congratulation to Tbilisi State Medical University with its 91st anniversary. The university has always been the center of development for higher medical education and medical sciences. The pandemic has revealed demand for professional medical staff in the country. Such professionals are raised at TSMU and the university is proud of its graduates. Congratulation to TSMU professors, teachers, staff, graduates and students with the anniversary. I am grateful for their dedicated work and wish them successful career path” - is reported in the Prime Minister’s congratulation. 

"I would like to express my respect and gratitude to the highly professional medical staff. They are heroes of our time. Our doctors have been fighting against pandemic devotedly and most of these doctors are TSMU graduates. Not only professors but medical students also participate in the process. I am convinced, Tbilisi State Medical University will continue to raise professionals in the future either” – noted the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia.
