An information session on the EU’s key funding programme for research and innovation - Horizon Europe was held at Tbilisi State Medical University. The aim of the event was to raise awareness among the university’s academic staff and early-career researchers about the program and to encourage their active participation in ongoing grant competitions in the field of health.
The session was opened by Levan Khetsuriani, Head of the Horizon Europe National Office in Georgia, who discussed the strategic objectives and scope of the program.
Nino Rodonaia, the national contact point for Widening and the European Research Area, presented a detailed overview of current grant calls, placing particular emphasis on the Widening program and health-related priorities, existing opportunities, and corresponding thematic directions.
Nikoloz Vachadze, Coordinator of the Horizon Europe Grant Office at TSMU, spoke about the procedural aspects of preparing and submitting applications for health-related calls. His presentation served as a practical guide for participants, offering valuable insights into the application process.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Levan Khetsuriani expressed his intention to organize a similar session specifically for PhD students and early-career researchers at TSMU.
Horizon Europe is the European Union’s flagship funding program for research and innovation, with a total budget of €95.5 billion for the 2021–2027 period. The program aims to advance the European Research and Innovation Area, enhance international collaboration and support the creation and dissemination of new knowledge and technologies.
