TSMU Therapy Department Assistant Professors’ Visit at the American Heart Association Congress

On November 14-19, 2019 Assistant Professors Maka Gegenava and Tea Gegenava, Department of Therapy (TSMU), visited American Heart Association Congress in Philadelphia (USA). The Assistant Professors presented scientific project developed in the Leiden University Medical Center and published in the American Heart Association journal “Circulation”. The president of the American Heart Association, MD. Robert A. Harrington awarded TSMU Assistant Professors with an honorable award of “Paul Dudley White”. Paul Dudley White was the founder of the American Heart Association and one of the founders of contemporary cardiology in the USA. The award is given annually to the noble US and European scientists and group of scientists. Maka Gegenava and Tea Gegenava also gained award for young scientists from the American Heart Association Vice President, Dr. Ivor Benjamin and attended ceremony dedicated to the nominees. 

The Assistant Professors attended congress where the contemporary achievements in cardiovascular field was discussed. They also met the representatives of the Universities of Johns Hopkins and Duke anddiscussed future partnership opportunities between two parties.
