TSMU Department of Ophthalmology Conducts Charitable Medical Outreach in Kobuleti

The Department of Ophthalmology of Tbilisi State Medical University in collaboration with its partner clinics, conducted another charitable medical outreach initiative in Kobuleti for war veterans, veterans of the Defense Forces, and their family members. The program provided free endocrinological and ophthalmological examinations to beneficiaries.

The outreach team included Professor Nino Karanadze, Head of the TSMU Department of Ophthalmology, and laboratory specialist Nino Jankarashvili. During the campaign, 133 beneficiaries underwent comprehensive health assessments and diagnostic examinations. In addition, war veterans and their family members received 266 pairs of prescription eyeglasses and 16 glucometers free of charge.

The cooperation between the TSMU Department of Ophthalmology and the Lions Eye Diabetic Clinic “Georgia” is based on a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2016 with the support and coordination of the State Service for Veterans Affairs. Within the framework of this partnership, the TSMU Department of Ophthalmology and the Lions Eye Diabetic Clinic “Georgia” have organized a total of 37 charitable medical outreach campaigns over the past eight years, providing essential healthcare services to veterans and their families throughout Georgia.
