From January 3 to 13, 2025, Associate Professor Eka Ekaladze, Director of the American MD Program of Tbilisi State Medical University (TSMU), visited the Emory University School of Medicine. The aim of the visit was to facilitate the further development of the program, both within its curriculum and in planning additional activities. According to the Associate Professor of TSMU, the Emory University School of Medicine is currently testing a new interdisciplinary curriculum, which offers valuable insights for sharing best practices.
During the visit, Associate Professor Eka Ekaladze participated in various working meetings organized by Professors Gordon Churchward and Mary Jo Leckovitch. These meetings aimed to introduce the operational principles and experiences of different departments at Emory School of Medicine. Associate Professor Eka Ekaladze met with Cristen Hairston, Head of the Department of Student Support and Success and David Schulman, Coordinator of the Preclinical Stage Examination System.
“During my stay at Emory, students of our program were completing clerkships at various clinics and hospitals associated with Emory. I was pleased to hear positive feedback from American colleagues, particularly about the foundational knowledge levels of our US MD Program students. Enhancing their clinical skills remains one of our key future goals. The representatives of Emory University School of Medicine expressed their desire to strengthen collaboration” stated Associate Professor Eka Ekaladze.
