On October 18-23, 2019 the 17th International Immunology Congress was held in Beijing (China) organized by the International Union of Immunological Societies (IUIS) and the Chinese Society for Immunology (CSI).

The General Assembly of the International Association of Immunological Societies elected President, Vice-President, General Secretary and six Executive Committee Members, representing each continent. 16 scientists were nominated as members of the Executive Committee of the International Association of Immunological Societies from the European Region. From 101 delegates 95 voted for the candidate presented by the Georgian Association of Allergology and Clinical Immunology - Head of Immunology Department at TSMU and Dean of Medicine Faculty, Prof. Tinatin Chikovani. 

Prof. Zurab Vadachkoria, TSMU Rector has already received the letter of congratulation from Academician Revaz Sepiashvili, the President of Georgian Association of Allergology and Clinical Immunology. He noted, since Academician and immunologist Rem Petrov, no scientist from the Post-Soviet Countries has gained such a prestigious award. TSMU Professor Tinatin Chikovani is an honorable representative from European Region.
