The Iovel Kutateladze Institute of Pharmacochemistry of Tbilisi State Medical University has successfully completed an international audit and obtained three important certifications: ISO 9001:2015, ISO 22000:2018, and ISO 22716:2007 (Cosmetics GMP). The certifications cover the production, packaging, storage, distribution, quality control, and warehousing of herbal products, food and biologically active supplements, and medicinal products.

The achievement marks an important step in the Institute’s ongoing development of translational science and its efforts to strengthen the link between fundamental research, laboratory innovation, and production. The internationally recognized standards further strengthen the quality and safety of the Institute’s products and create new opportunities for expanding their presence in international markets.

ISO 9001:2015 confirms the implementation of a comprehensive quality management system based on internationally recognized principles of process control and continuous improvement.

ISO 22000:2018 certifies the Institute’s food safety management system, including the application of HACCP principles throughout the production process for herbal products and biologically active supplements.

ISO 22716:2007 (Cosmetics GMP) confirms compliance with internationally recognized good manufacturing practices for the production, quality control, storage, and handling of cosmetic and related products.

The new certifications are expected to strengthen the international competitiveness of products manufactured at the Institute, including Karipazim, herbal preparations, and biologically active supplements, while supporting cooperation with international partners and distribution networks.

The certification also creates new opportunities for the commercialization of research, development of innovative products based on medicinal and endemic plants, international research collaboration, and practical training for TSMU students and young researchers. This achievement further reinforces TSMU’s commitment to integrating education, research, innovation, and production in accordance with internationally recognized quality standards.
