TSMU Molecular and Medical Genetics Department started implementation of the Project -"Journal Club" for undergraduate medical students. In frames of the project professors regularly meet students to discuss innovative articles about molecular and medical genetics, genomics and translational medicine (From Bench to Bedside and Beyond) published in popular, indexed scientific and clinical journals. The project develops analyzing and critical thinking skills among students. The students present articles, discuss and assess gained information with other students and professors and show critical opinions around the topic.

The 2nd course students have presented articles and innovative researches about actual problems: biomarkers (Ana Khmiadashvili, Ilona Voskanyan), CRISPR / CAS9 genome editing system and its clinical use (Anzor Kvirikashvili, Nikoloz Kvirikadze), the role of tumor-circulating DNA in response to treatment (Gigi Gorgadze, Nina Ramishvili), genetic risk variations during the COVID-19 (Tsisana Ugulava, Nika Togonidze), etc. The activities will help to develop medical students as independent, qualified doctors and scientists.
