From May 11 to 15, 2026 Professor Maia Okujava, Head of the Quality Assurance Service of the Faculty of Medicine and Head of the Department of Medical Pharmacology of Tbilisi State Medical University visited the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain) within the framework of the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (KA171) Program.

Under the supervision of Professor Víctor Manuel Vázquez Arce of the University of Santiago de Compostela, Professor Maia Okujava participated in the educational process, which included both a lecture and a seminar. Throughout a series of working meetings, Professor Maia Okujava became acquainted with contemporary teaching and assessment methods employed in the training of medical students. These discussions provided valuable insights into innovative educational approaches and quality assurance practices in medical education.

An important component of the visit was a tour of the University of Santiago de Compostela’s Skills Center. The TSMU Professor explored the Center’s operational model, which supports the development of practical skills and professional competencies among students, residents, and practicing physicians.

Professor Maia Okujava also visited the Center for Research in Molecular Medicine and Chronic Diseases (CIMUS), where she was introduced to the Center’s ongoing scientific and research activities. One of CIMUS’s principal areas of focus is the development and screening of new pharmaceutical compounds, a field that plays a significant role in contemporary biomedical research.
