On September 16-20 the 55th Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) was held in Barcelona (Spain). Prof. David Metreveli and Assistant Prof. Nino Charkviani, TSMU Endocrinology Department of the Faculty of Medicine were officially invited at the congress. Delegates were from European, US, Asian, African countries and Australia. The congress was rich with scientific program and presentations of professional key note speakers. 

Topics discussed at the congress were especially important and interesting for the audience: diabetes treatment and prevention: opportunities and challenges, efficacy of new pharmaceuticals for diabetes management, adverse effects of pharmaceuticals and safety studies, novel paradigms in diabetes and cardiovascular disease, carbohydrate quality and diabetes, genetics and precision medicine, gestational and trans generational diabetes, chemistry and diabetology, abnormal increase of glucose level in blood among pregnant women, psycho-emotional problems of diabetics and depressive syndromes.
