World Science Day at Tbilisi State Medical University

Professor Kakhaber Chelidze Head of the TSMU Internal Medicine Department N 1 organized a public lecture “Intestinal Microbiota and Atherosclerosis" at the Tbilisi State Medical University. The event was organized by Ivane Tarkhnishvili Students' Scientific Society and dedicated to the World Science Day. World Science Day is celebrated every year on November 10 and highlights the important role of science in society. The lecture was attended by students, researchers, academic and administrative staff of TSMU. One of the most important issues: microbiota, microbiome, eubiosis, dysbiosis and their connection with atherosclerosis were discussed at the meeting. 

"The public lecture turned out to be quite interesting. A new and interesting field of medicine was discussed. We talked about intestinal microbiota and its connection with various diseases. The main emphasis was made on atherosclerosis” said Professor Kakhaber Chelidze. 

Professor Sophia Bakhtadze, Vice Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University highlighted that public lectures make a contribution to develop professional and scientific knowledge among students. Professor Sophia Bakhtadze expressed her desire and hope to make events related to the World Science Day traditional at the university.
