Internship of the students of Faculty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Turkey

From July 23 to September 20, 2024, the seventh-semester students of the Faculty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of Tbilisi State Medical University, Ana Gogiashvili and Tamar Dekanoidze, participated in an Erasmus+ KA171 exchange program at İzmir Tınaztepe University, Turkey. The students underwent internships at the university hospitals: Tip Merkezi and Tınaztepe Galen Hospital, where they had the opportunity to observe and actively participate in the rehabilitation process of patients with various diagnoses.

“We gained extensive knowledge and practical experience in various fields during the internship. We were thoroughly taught how to use tools such as electrostimulation, shockwave therapy, ultrasound therapy, traction, and more. We became familiar with the process of TECAR therapy. In the field of neurological rehabilitation, we worked with several pediatric patients, which allowed us to better understand the specifics of juvenile rehabilitation, considering their needs and applying an individualized approach. We also visited the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where, together with the supervisor, we conducted various rehabilitation exercises," noted the Georgian students.

The practical experience gained at the clinics were especially important for the students for their future career development in the fields of rehabilitation.
