Field Session in frames of Project

On June 2-4, 2021 Emory-Georgia Fresh Air Research-Educational Project "CARE / ZRUNVA" organized a field meeting. The meeting was attended by the representatives from Tbilisi State Medical University, the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC), and Public Health National Environment Agency.

The project is implemented in frames of grant agreement between NCDC and Emory University School of Medicine and aims to develop capacity of research on non-communicable diseases and environmental health in Georgia through training, teaching and practice. The project is developed on the basis of TSMU International School of Public Health. The Project “CARE/ZRUNVA” envisages financing teaching and learning process of TSMU Public Health Faculty Master and PhD level students at the Universities of Emory and George Washington (USA). The master and PhD students introduced their research activities to the international experts. In frames of the event Lela Sturua, Head of the Non-Communicable Disease Department (NCDC), Prof. Levan Baramidze, Head of the TSMU Public Health, Management, Policy and Economy Department, Assoc. Prof. Nino Kiladze, TSMU Department of Hygiene and Medical Ecology and Prof. Givi Javashvili, Head of Bioethics Society and TSMU Family Medicine Department delivered lectures. Online presentations about environmental health and ecology were held by the international experts, Carla Berg, Carmen Marsit and Noah Scovronick (Emory School of Medicine, USA). At the end of the meeting future cooperation activates were planned.
