An Innovative Method for the Treatment of Ischemic Stroke at the TSMU First University Clinic

On August 7, 2019 an innovative method for the treatment of ischemic stroke was conducted at the TSMU first university clinic. The innovative method envisages work of multidisciplinary group consisting of neurologist, cardiologist, radiologist and intensivist.  The method was implemented in the USA and Europe more than a decade ago. In Georgia the method has been clinically tested for several years at the Kutaisi Referral Hospital and Surgery Institute. The innovative method was conducted by Prof. Maia Beridze, the Head of TSMU Neurology Department, Dr. Nino Shubladze, the neurologist, Dr. Ketevan Gharibashvili, the emergency doctor, Dr. Temur Goletiani, the radiologist and Ketevan Mtsariashvili, the emergency nurse. The treatment was conducted according to the guidelines and 63 years-old patient feels much better and continues treatment at the intensive unit. The TSMU First University Clinic was granted with a certificate to conduct innovative operations of ischemic stroke patients. The group was trained in Germany by European “Angels Initiative” Association. The First University Clinic and Israel colleagues are intending to conduct joint clinical researches - IMACT -2 in the nearest future.
