Magdalena Bahman is the final course student at the Medical University of Innsbruck which has signed a partnership agreement with the TSMU. The Austrian student is undergoing internship at TSMU the First University Clinic Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

The student noted, staying in Georgia is especially interesting for her, as she has been introduced to a different medical system from her country.

“I have visited TSMU the First University Clinic to improve my practical skills in obstetrics and gynecology. I like working here. This is the first time I have undergone internship abroad. I have chosen Tbilisi, as I wanted to gain experience in practical skills in Georgia. I think I have made the best decision because I was introduced to a different health system from my own country. Besides, I am amazed with the hospitality and friendly atmosphere in Georgia. I really appreciate it” – said Magdalena Bahman.

TSMU Obstetrics and Gynecology Department Assoc. Professor and Head of the Perinatology Department at TSMU the First University Clinic, Platon Matchavariani noted, Magdalena Bahman has been at the clinic for a week and she has been actively involved in all the department activities.

“Magdalena is attending medical manipulations. We are proud that in addition to professional skills, we give her love and warmth. This is very important because students represent our future. She is very interested in her field. She knows that she is among COVID patients and still her attitude is appropriate as she clearly realizes that it is a medical dignity. Despite she is not in her country, she understands that there are no borders for doctors. I do hope she will become a brilliant doctor and remember that Georgian doctors have helped her to develop essential professional skills” – Professor noted.

The second 6th year student of the Medical University of Innsbruck is Anna Rainer. Anna said, after receiving information about partnership between her university and the TSMU, she met a famous Georgian Doctor, Irma Kvitsaridze in Innsbruck. The Georgian Doctor told her about the Tbilisi State Medical University and she made a decision to undergo internship at the TSMU.

“After receiving information about the Tbilisi State Medical University, I met Georgian Doctor working in Innsbruck, Irma Kvitsaridze. She told me about the TSMU and the university clinics in Tbilisi. I was very interested and decided to visit Georgia. I have constant communication with the TSMU Department of International Relations. They are very attentive and have guided us from the very first day of our arrival. I am undergoing internship at TSMU the First University Clinic. I like to help citizens of other country. There are COVID patients and I attentively observe doctor-patient communication. It is a very interesting process. Before visiting Georgia, I had never heard about it. I am amazed with the beautiful places and people. I especially liked Svaneti and Georgian cuisine” Anna said.

Anna is undergoing internship at the Internal Medicine Department of TSMU the First University Clinic. TSMU Assistant Professor, Head of the Internal Medicine Department at TSMU the First University Clinic, Konstantine Liluashvili said: „The working environment offered at the clinic methodologically and thematically coincides with development of essential skills necessary for the student’s future success. Anna is given opportunity to develop practical skills and acquire knowledge in internal medicine. She is participating in medical manipulations, also is performing various medical procedures herself which is useful for her further professional success. It is noteworthy, COVID patients with significant pathologies are treated at the clinic and the student is given opportunity to observe the medical treatment process and take part in it” – said the doctor.
