The Professor Shalva Toidze Museum of Topographic Anatomy at the Department of Clinical Anatomy and Operative Surgery of Tbilisi State Medical University has officially reopened in a newly renovated and modernized space. The museum now features several new and unique exhibits, further enriching its distinguished collection.
The opening ceremony was attended by Professor Irakli Natroshvili, TSMU Rector; Tea Giorgadze, Deputy Minister of Health and Professor Liana Kikalishvili, Head of the Department of Clinical Anatomy and Operative Surgery.
Named in honor of Professor Shalva Toidze, the museum houses an exceptional collection of anatomical specimens, including both wet and dry preparations created by Professors Nikoloz Kakhiani and Nikoloz Demetradze. These unique anatomical preparations are considered unparalleled worldwide and represent a remarkable contribution to medical science and education.
Professor Irakli Natroshvili addressed the audience at the opening ceremony and emphasized the museum’s significance for the university’s academic and scientific development.

With a history spanning more than 80 years, the Professor Shalva Toidze Museum serves as an important scientific and educational institution within TSMU. Today, it stands as one of the university’s hallmark attractions, playing a vital role in both teaching and research activities. Professor Liana Kikalishvili, Head of the Department of Clinical Anatomy and Operative Surgery, highlighted the museum’s educational mission and prospects:
