On 26 January, 2018, the International Conference on "Endoscopic Thyroid Surgery - Modern Approaches", organized by V. Iverieli Endocrinology Metabology Dietology Center ''ENMEDIC'', Tbilisi State Medical University and “Foundation of Alliance Against Cancer, NGO and supported by the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) was held at the "Courtyard Marriott", Tbilisi, Georgia. The Conference was opened by Levan Ramishvili, a surgeon of the Center ''ENMEDIC'' after which  the participants were welcomed by Khatuna Kekelashvili Deputy Director of V. Iverieli Endocrinology Metabology Dietology Center ''ENMEDIC''. Marina Darakhvelidze Head of the Health Care Department of the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia addressed the participants of the conference as well. She emphasized a great significance of the Conference dedicated to Modern Approaches in Endoscopic Thyroid Surgery, as in recent years the rate of thyroid pathologies significantly increased in Georgia and around the world. She stressed the role of the Tbilisi State Medical University in training specialists in this field of medicine and said that TSMU traditionally initiates and supports such high-level international conferences promoting the development of medicine in Georgia. The audience was greeted and welcomed by Prof. Zurab Vadachkoria, Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University; He noted that supporting the international scientific conferences is a priority of Tbilisi State Medical University and wished success to all participants of the International Conference. The idea of ​​organizing the international conference on "Endoscopic Thyroid Surgery - Modern Approaches" - was positively appreciated  by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Georgia,  H.E. Fatma Ceren Yazgan.  Prof. David Metreveli, Professor of Endocrinology Department of TSMU also addressed the participants of the Conference. It is important to emphasize that  the Conference was attended by the representatives of EGE University (Turkey) which is  considered as one of the leading Universities in Turkey. The video-stream of jointly performed surgery - transoral thyroidectomy was organized for the participants of the conference.The conference was attended by the Deputy Head of the Agency for Regulation of Medical Activity Paata Bukia. It is noteworthy that prior to the conference, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Georgia, H.E. Fatma Ceren Yazgan met with Prof. Zurab Vadachkoria, Rector of TSMU. She has reaffirmed her favor with the Tbilisi State Medical University where more than 2300 students study from 65 countries worldwide and expressed readiness for future cooperation.
