Meeting of Grigol Mukhadze Surgeons Association Dedicated to Professor Guram Tatishvili’s 90th Anniversary

On October 25, a meeting of Grigol Mukhadze Surgeons Association was organized at Tbilisi State Medical University. The meeting was dedicated to the 90th  anniversary of Professor Guram Tatishvili, the Head of the G. Mukhadze Surgeons Association, Academician and Vice President of the Georgian Academy of Medical Sciences. The meeting was attended by TSMU academic staff, TSMU alumni, representatives of G. Mukhadze Surgeons Association and Medical Society. The session was opened by Prof. Gia Tomadze, the Head of the Surgery Department at TSMU International Medicine Faculty. Prof. Gia Tomadze talked about the work and professionalism of Guram Tatishvili. Prof. Zurab Vadachkoria, TSMU Rector remembered the achievements and career development of the Professor and his academic work at TSMU. Zaza Bokhua, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia, Akaki Zoidze, Chairperson of the Healthcare and Social Issues Committee of Parliament of Georgia, Mariam Jashi, Chairperson of the Education, Science and Culture Committee of Parliament of Georgia, TSMU Honorable Doctor, David Saganelidze, the CEO of the Partnership Fund, Academician Amiran Gamkrelidze, the Director General of the National Centre for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC), Vladimer Kakhadze, the Member of the Health Care and the Social Issues Committee of Parliament of Georgia, Professors: Dimitri Kordzaia, Shota Japaridze, Ramaz Khetsuriani, Merab Eremeishvili, David Abzianidze, Merab Kiladze, Akaki Beridze, Gocha Ingorokva, Avtandil Jorbenadze and Besik Iashvili remembered the work of the Professor. The son of the Professor, David Tatishvili thanked the audience for the memories and appreciation of his father. The youngest son of the Professor, Merab Tatishvili, and the Chancellor of G. Mukhadze Surgeons Association noted the journal “Herald of Georgian Surgery” will be internationally relevant journal in the nearest future and from 2019 it is named “Guram Tatishvili Georgian Surgery Herald”.
