On November 15, 2019 Student 81st International Scientific Conference was held at TSMU, organized by the TSMU Ivane Tarkhnishvili Student Scientific Society, the Clinical Skills Center and TSMU Students and Alumni Relations Service. Tbilisi State Medical University, Tbilisi State University, David Tvildiani Medical University, Telavi Iakob Gogebashvili State University, Ukraine Medical Stomatological Academy, Pirogov Medical University, Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University, National University of Pharmacy and Ivano Frankivski National Medical University students participated in the conference. 

The participants presented original clinical and experimental studies and clinical cases evaluated by a competent jury:

Assoc. Prof. David Tskhomelidze – TSMU Department of Medical Biology and Parasitology;

Assoc. Prof Luiza Gabunia – Director of TSMU Clinical Skills Center;

Prof. Mamuka Margvelashvili - Head of the Department of Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery at TSU;

Maka Mantskava – Head of the I. Beritashvili Center of Experimental Biomedicine and Invited Lecturer at the TSMU Clinical Skills Center;

Maia Chakhnashvili – TSMU Specialist in Scientific Work Coordination and Invited Lecturer at the Department of Physiology;

Giorgi Pochkhua – Doctor-cardiologist at the Tbilisi Referral Hospital and TSMU Invited Lecturer;

Giorgi Atatia – Senior Manager of Inspection and Monitoring Service at Insurance Company IMEDI-L, Master of Public Health.

Three best research was announced at the end of the conference:

Anastasia Shkodina, Ana Vietkina, Anastacia Malik - NF-kB-mediated oxidative damage to the rats’ heart during Systemic Inflammation Response, Ukraine Medical Stomatological Academy 

2. Bojena Andrushchishin - Risk of colorectal cancer in patients with colon disorder. Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University 

3. Naili Shavshishvili, Nino Jalaghonia, Barbare Ugulava - The action of silver nanoparticles, received in the area of chitosan, on the metaloproteinasas-9 on the base of the experimentally modelled chronically bronchitis; Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.

The winners were awarded with certificates and prizes. The proceedings were published in the Ivane Tarkhnishvili Student Scientific Society students’ annual journal.
