Visit of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University Delegation and Millennium Challenge Georgia at TSMU

On September 4, 2019 Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) delegation and Millennium Challenge Georgia representatives visited TSMU. The members of Delegation were, Dr. Van Crowder, PhD, Executive Director of Center for International Research, Education and Development (CIRED) at Virginia Tech, Assoc. Prof. Andre Muelenaer, Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Joshua Anderson, Director of Business Development Virginia Tech's Center for International Research, Education, and Development. Mr. Nodar Surguladze, Higher Education Project Director of Millennium Challenge Georgia accompanied the delegation.

Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University Delegation was invited by the Georgian government. Aim of the visit was to meet the official bodies and educators, discuss possibility of US-Georgian partnership, to improve health education and familiarize with healthcare sector in Georgia. The members of delegation visited TSMU and got acquainted with the medical education programs, the success of the university and the development strategy.

Prof. Zurab Vadachkoria, TSMU Rector, Professors Rima Beriashvili, Khatuna Todadze and Assoc. Prof. Irakli Kokhreidze, TSMU Vice Rectors, Prof. Gaiane Simonia, Head of Medical Education, Research and Strategic Development Department, Ketevan Ebralidze, Director of TSMU Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Continuous Professional Development, Irina Kapetivadze, Head of Rectors Office, Assistant Professor Tinatin Kilasonia, Representative of International Relations Department and Assoc. Prof. Eka Ekaladze, Director of American MD (Doctor of Medicine Degree) Program met the guests, discussed the vision, mission and goals of the university, academic, research and clinical activities, postgraduate education, nursing program and mutual co-operation perspectives.
