International Students were Handed Diplomas and Medals

On June 4, 2014, TSMU international  students who have completed the study course solemnly were awarded special diplomas and medals. This day  was  special for each of them and TSMU administrative and academic personnel  as well.

Graduation ceremony was partly theatrical. They entered the hall dressed in academic robes and carrying lit candles in their hands.                     As certified doctors, they clearly stated that they received proper education at Tbilisi State Medical University, saying farewell to their native university and its academic personnel who made every effort to give every student maximum. At first the audience was addressed by Karish Putanpura distinguished as the most successful student among TSMU international students:  I was only 17 years old when I came to Georgia and for 6 years I have learned here. Time passed quickly. It was like I found a new family in Georgia: I made friends and loved ones ... and I’ll always have a desire  to be back in this country over again.

According to a former student Kshitij Kumar, he will never forget the years spent here. On behalf of his fellow students he thanked for the work they constantly felt from their Professors and teachers. International students were addressed by Prof. Rima Beriashvili TSMU Vice - Rector,  Professor Tina Chikovani Dean of the Faculty of Medicine,  Associate Professor George Giorgobiani Head of the Department of Overseas Students Education, and Prof. Ia Avaliani Head of International Affairs Department. Prof. Rima Beriashvili wished her former students to achieve big success, and what is more important they are ready for it. According to Professor Tina Chikovani they should remember this day not as an end of the 6-year study, but as beginning of meaningful life and a path which will start from now on. "Be happy and successful, and remember the Tbilisi State Medical University, as the first step in your career path".  At the end of the event all were  invited to the stage. Graduates were given  diplomas and medals by  Zurab Orjonikidze TSMU Chancellor, Prof. Rima Beriashvili Vice - Rector, Professor Tina Chikovani Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Associate Professor George Giorgobiani Head of the Department of Overseas Students Education, and Prof. Ia Avaliani Head of International Relations Department.

The evening ended with the song performed in honor of graduates by foreign students. There was traditional "tossing up hats" and  expression of enormous joy. We are ready to do everything to change and improve people’s condition – said  they. At the end of ceremony, they took “Hippocratic Oath”. There was made an inscription: "In our hands, we hold the future". Tbilisi State Medical University congratulates to all students on taking the Diploma and wishes them a successful future as in professional field, as well as personal life.
