OSCE – Exam at A. Urushadze Dental Clinic of TSMU

On January 16-17, 2015, at  A. Urushadze Dental  Clinic of Tbilisi State Medical University (TSMU), Department of Odontology, the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) in clinical endodontics and propedeutics was held.

As distinct from the previous years, this time twelve examination stations were provided for this examination. At the exam, there were assessed practical, communication, reasoning and logical thinking and medical documentation skills of the students. It should be noted that the students showed the full mobilization and adequate preparation for the exam. The exam was assessed by seven members of the Department of Odontology and 14 invited lecturers.

The "roles" of standardized patients in conservative dentistry were performed by physician-residents. Exam process was attended by: Professor Zurab Vadachkoria Rector of TSMU; Professor Kakhaber Chelidze, Vice-Rector; Professor Samson Mghebrishvili Dean of the Faculty of Stomatology; Professor Nana Kipiani, Deputy Dean; Professor Natalia Shonia, Head of Quality Assurance of the Faculty of Stomatology;  Ivan Kugoti, Specialist  of Quality Assurance of the Faculty of Stomatology. 

Every group filled out the special questionnaire, thereby examiners were able to assess the results of OSCE examination reckoning with their point of views.  The results of OSCE exam in Propedeutics of Clinical Endodontics confirmed once again that it is the most modern and truly objective method for the evaluation of students' knowledge.
