Tbilisi State Medical University - 100 Years Anniversary of Medical Education in Georgia

On September 20, 2018 Conference on “100 Years Anniversary of Medical Education in Georgia” was organized at TSMU. The conference was dedicated to the development of contemporary competences necessary for 21st century doctors, global and national standards in postgraduate and continuous professional education and new sectorial standards in medical education. The conference was opened by Prof. Zurab Vadachkoria, TSMU Rector and Prof. Trudy Roberts, President of Association for Medical Education in Europe – AMEE. Prof. Roberts was awarded by Honorary Doctorate Degree and has been co-operating with TSMU for more than ten years. Under her supervision TEMPUS project “Modernizing Undergraduate Medical Education in EU Eastern Neighboring Area” (MUMEENA) was implemented and developed in 2011-201. Prof. Roberts also supported establishment of TSMU Academic development Center. Prof. Zaza Bokhua, First Deputy Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia, Prof. Ramaz Shengelia Head of TSMU Medicine History Department, Prof. Gaiane Simonia, Head of TSMU Research and Strategic Development Department, Prof. Tinatin Chikovani, Dean of Medicine Faculty, Prof. Irma Manjavidze, Head of Clinical Skills and Simulation Center and Prof. Givi Javashvili, Head of Family Medicine Department presented reports at the conference.
