The project was aimed to develop integrated undergraduate medical curriculum according to the standards defined bythe Association for Medical Education in Europe, Thematic Network on Medical Education in Europe MEDINE and the World Federation for Medical Education.

Within the framework of the project the special trainings on modern methodology of medical education - teaching and assessment and actual issues of medical education were arranged at Partner Universities of Europewith participation of internationally recognized eminentexperts; annual conferences were held; methodical recommendations /guidelines were prepared.

On the basis of the project Faculty Development Center was established at Tbilisi State Medical University, where since 2011staff training is conducted regularly.

The progress of the project was positively assessed by Mr. Klaus Haupt, representative of the European Commission in his official letter sent to Professor Trudie  Roberts, coordinator of the project, President of the Association for Medical Education in Europe since May 2013. The letter indicates a great contribution of Tbilisi State Medical University in successful implementation of the project, namely, creation of Faculty Development Centre, developed due to joint effort of the university leadership and the project coordinator.

Project implementation and introduction of new teaching and assessment methods strictly increased the ranking  of the Tbilisi State Medical University which actively participates in working groups of the main regulatory bodies in Europe - Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE) and  MEDINE2, working on development of standards and normative/regulatory documents on medical education; it is noteworthy that only Tbilisi State Medical University and Ankara University are involved in the working groups of MEDINEfrom non-EU universities.
