From August 1 to September 11, 2022 Pathologist of the Tbilisi State Medical University Laboratory of Teaching, Scientific and Diagnostic in Pathology Manana Jikurashvili underwent internship at the University Hospital of Innsbruck within the framework of bilateral agreement between the Tbilisi State Medical University and the Medical University of Innsbruck. Supported by Dr. Irma Kvitsaridze Honorary Doctor of TSMU, Senior Doctor at Radiation Therapy and Radiooncology Center of the Medical University of Innsbruck, Manana Jikurashvili was introduced to the modern methods of pathological services. The university clinic laboratory is the only digital laboratory in Austria providing fast and accurate diagnosis in hematopathology, neuropathology and soft tissue pathology. 

“I am impressed by the fact that the field is supposed to become an integral part of daily diagnostics. From the very first days of the internship I was involved in the diagnostic process with professional pathologists. We used to discuss nearly 15-20 cases every day. Express-diagnostics turned out to be especially interesting for me. I want to express my deepest gratitude to Dr. Irma Kvitsadridze for her support” said Pathologist Manana Jikurashvili. 

Laboratory of the University Clinic of Innsbruck expressed desire to collaborate in academic and practical directions with TSMU Laboratory of Teaching, Scientific and Diagnostic in Pathology. The cooperation is especially important for improving oncology services in Georgia.
