Tbilisi State Medical University Rector, Prof. Zurab Vadachkoria pain an official visit to the 3rd Congress of the Association of Caucasus Universities

On May 20 – 21, 2011 the 3rd Congress of the Association of Caucasus Universities was held in Baku, Azerbaijan, where Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University, Prof. Zurab Vadachkoria was invited.

The congress was attended by Azerbaijan’s National Education Minister, Mikayil Jabbarov, Turkey's National Education Minister, Professor Nabi Avci, Rector of Azerbaijan Medical University, Dr. Ahliman Amiraslanov, Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Alper Coskun, Turkey High Education Board Chairman, Professor Gökhan Çetinsaya, Chairman of Caucasus University Association, Professor Ramazan Korkmaz, Coordinator of Tbilisi Program of Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA), Mr. Resul Durmaz and rectors of Turkish universities. Georgian Delegation involved Deputy Minister of Science and Education of Georgia, Mr. David Zurabishvili and Heads of Higher Education Institutions of Georgia.

     
     

The Congress was about importance of Caucasus University Association in the region. One of the highlighted goals of the congress was MEVLANA exchange program, which promotes the exchange on the undergraduate, master, doctorate and post-doctorate levels, also academic and administrative staff’s mobility in Turkey. In the frames of the project Tbilisi State Medical University students and academic staff can have short-term as well as long-term internships in Atatürk University (Erzurum, Turkey) and Çukurova University (Adana, Turkey).

   

In the frames of the visit, Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University, Professor Zurab Vadachkoria with Rector of Azerbaijan Medical University, Dr. Ahliman Amiraslanov visited the University clinics and met with Azerbaijan colleagues. The future collaboration between the universities was planned.
