As part of the “TSMU Ambassadors” project, representatives of Tbilisi State Medical University visited Rustavi Public School No. 4 to introduce students to the medical profession and support their career orientation. The visit attracted strong interest among 9th, 10th, and 11th-grade students, who participated in a range of educational and practical activities designed to provide insight into medicine and healthcare.
Experienced instructors from the TSMU Clinical Skills and Multidisciplinary Simulation Center introduced students to the fundamentals of emergency first aid. During interactive practical sessions, participants learned:
• Basic principles of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR);
• Assessment of a safe environment and emergency response procedures;
• Techniques for relieving airway obstruction caused by foreign bodies;
• Measurement of vital signs, wound dressing, and bleeding control using simulation mannequins.
In parallel, representatives of the Faculty of Pharmacy engaged students in hands-on chemical experiments, offering them an opportunity to explore research activities and gain a better understanding of the practical aspects of medical science.
Students described the visit as both informative and inspiring. They particularly appreciated the opportunity to perform medical procedures under professional guidance and actively participate in simulation-based exercises. According to participants, the interactive format provided a new perspective on the professions of physicians and pharmacists, increased their motivation, and encouraged many of them to consider future careers in medicine and healthcare.
The visit was organized within the framework of the “TSMU Ambassadors” project, which aims to introduce school students to the diverse fields of medicine and healthcare while supporting informed educational and career choices.
Following the visit, students of Rustavi Public School No. 4 joined the creative competition “TSMU Through My Eyes.” Participants will have the opportunity to submit creative works reflecting their impressions of TSMU, while competition winners will be awarded the honorary title of TSMU Ambassador.
Tbilisi State Medical University wishes all participants success and looks forward to strengthening its cooperation with schools throughout Georgia.
