On 21 April, 2015, unprecedented program that has no analogous throughout the world was launched in Georgia; Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Georgia and the company "GILEAD SCIENCES" was signed. This signing marked the start of a new project of Public Health, aiming at " Elimination of C hepatitis in Georgia" and reduction of the rate of morbidity and mortality caused by this virus and prevention of occurring new cases. The solemn reception devoted to launching the program - "Elimination of C hepatitis" was attended by: Irakli Garibashvili, Prime minister of Georgia, the members of Government, parliamentarians, the representatives of the diplomatic corps and international organizations.
Among the invited guests was Professor Zurab Vadachkoria, Rector of TSMU, according to him this program of “Elimination of C hepatitis” was the most important achievement: "The scope of the project is unprecedented big that will bring victory for our country which due to increased number of diseased persons with C chronic hepatitis faced a big problem. The contribution made by Mr. David Sergeenko, Minister of Labour, Health and Social Appairs of Georgia and all people, those who were actively involved in mplementation of this project was succesfully crowned. This is indeed a very important day for whole Georgia"
