Training Course by the U.S. Walter Reed Army Institute of Research

Tbilisi State Medical University, in partnership with Emory University (Atlanta, USA) and Ken Walker International University, hosted an infection prevention and control training course provided by the U.S. Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR).

The training was led by experts from WRAIR and the U.S. Army University's Department of Infectious Diseases: Colonel Rosanne Resner, Major Benjamin Custer and Colonel Jason Bennett on November 4-8, 2024, at Ken Walker International University and the First University Clinic of Tbilisi State Medical University.

The course aimed to develop essential didactic and practical skills for infection prevention and control within medical institutions. The First University Clinic of TSMU, G. Zhvania Pediatric Academic Clinic and the Gori Military Hospital staff participated in the training. 

Since 1995, Tbilisi State Medical University has collaborated with the Georgian office of WRAIR. In September 2024, WRAIR hosted Professor Irakli Natroshvili, Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University, Mr. Alexander Buachidze, TSMU Chancellor and Professor Archil Undilashvili, Head of the International Relations Department in Washington, D. C. The meetings focused on future collaborative plans, including the organization of the recent training sessions.
