From February 29 to March 2, 2024 the IOC World Conference on Prevention of Injury and Illness in Sport was organized in Monaco. Professor Lela Maskhulia, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Assoc. Prof. Nino Tskhvediani, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Assoc. Prof. Zurab Kakhabrishvili and Assoc. Prof. Irina Kapetivadze, Head of Rector’s Office participated in the conference.
Professor Lela Maskhulia presented a report on the topic "Monitoring the effects of non-functional overtraining through the response of cardiac biomarkers in highly qualified athletes: using the results for the prevention of overtraining syndrome" at the conference session.
Within the framework of the visit the TSMU delegation met the congress participants from different countries. Assoc. Prof. Zurab Kakhabrishvili shared his experience in the prevention and treatment of sportmen’s injuries while preparing for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Prof. Lela Maskhulia and Assoc. Prof. Zurab Kakhabrishvili met the representatives of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and planned collaborative scientific and clinical projects in the development of sport cardiology.
