From August 14 to 26, an international folklore
festival was held in several cities of the Czech Republic (Červený Kostelec and
Liptál) under the auspices of UNESCO. The festival featured 17 folklore
ensembles from 14 countries (Georgia, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Scotland,
Italy, Serbia, Spain, France, Thailand, Taiwan, India, Slovakia, and the Czech
Republic).
The Georgian folk song and dance ensemble from
Tbilisi State Medical University’s Cultural Center won first place (the main
choreographer of the ensemble is Davit Ugrekhelidze, choreographer - Inez
Kupreishvili and director of the center - Badri Machavariani). Second place was
awarded to the Czech Republic, and third place went to Mexico.
It is noteworthy that in 2024, the ensemble will
celebrate its 40th anniversary. Tbilisi State Medical University congratulates
the ensemble on this significant success on the world stage.
