On November 1-2, 2024, the 6th Caucasus Teaching Course in Pediatric Neurology was organized by Tbilisi State Medical University and the European Paediatric Neurology Society (EPNS). The course organizer was Professor Sophia Bakhtadze, Vice-Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University and Head of the Department of Pediatric Neurology.
Professor Irakli Natroshvili, Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University welcomed the participants, emphasizing the great value of such scientific events in sharing new information, which is highly important in all fields, including pediatric neurology.
Professor Barbara Plecko (University of Graz, Austria), Professor Lena Haataja (University of Helsinki, Finland), Professor Brigitte Vollmer (University of Southampton, United Kingdom), Professor Biayna Sukhudyan (Joint Medical Center “Arabik”, Armenia), Professor Sophia Bakhtadze (Tbilisi State Medical University, Georgia) and Professor Nana Tatisvhili (David Tvildiani Medical University, Georgia) delivered presentations during the event. The course was attended by nearly 90 participants from Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, and Turkey.
On the second day of the event, European experts conducted a practical seminar on neonatal examination using the Hammersmith assessment method at the G. Zhvania Pediatric Academic Clinic. Oral and poster discussions on interesting clinical cases were also held.
The EPNS 6th Caucasus Teaching Course was accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®) with 12.5 European CME.
The course was highly evaluated by both participating doctors and TSMU students, as evidenced by the positive feedback posted on the EPNS website.
