In celebration of World Science Day, the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia organized an awarding ceremony of the Leonardo da Vinci Competition for Inventors and Researchers winners.
The event was attended by Alexander Tsuladze, Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia. The minister addressed the audience, congratulated the participants on World Science Day and emphasized the importance of supporting the field of science for the development of the country. During the ceremony, young researchers and scientists actively involved in scientific projects and programs were awarded. Among the honorees was Associate Professor Ketevan Kankava, the Department of Molecular and Medical Genetics of Tbilisi State Medical University. The event was also attended by Professor Irakli Natroshvili, Rector of TSMU, Professor Jaba Samushia, Rector of Tbilisi State University, Professor David Gurgenidze, Rector of Georgian Technical University, Academician Roin Metreveli, President of the Georgian National Academy of Science, Soso Giorgadze, the Chair of Georgia's National Intellectual Property Centre, Teimuraz Dochviri, Director General of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia and Soso Pkhakadze, President of the Business Association of Georgia.
World Science Day was established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2001. The goal of this day is to raise public awareness of the importance of science and to promote public involvement in the discussion of current scientific issues.
