A public lecture on "Vaccine-Preventable Infections" was held at Tbilisi State Medical University, addressing key topics such as the clinical, epidemiological and social aspects of vaccination from both global and local perspectives. The lecture was conducted by Professor Tamar Didbaridze, Head of the Department of Microbiology of TSMU and a microbiologist at TSMU the First University Clinic.
Professor Tamar Didbaridze provided a comprehensive overview of the history, development, and classification of vaccines. Special emphasis was placed on the national immunization schedule, age-related vaccination indicators and the development of herd immunity.
"Immunization can be regarded as one of the most significant achievements of humanity in the field of healthcare. The use of vaccines has enabled the prevention and management of numerous fatal diseases, particularly among children," stated Professor Tamar Didbaridze.
The lecture featured recent scientific studies and case analyses related to vaccination. The event was organized by the Education Department of the TSMU Self Student Government.
