Tbilisi State Medical University in collaboration with its partner clinics, carried out its 30th round of free ophthalmologic and endocrinologic screenings. The event was for war and defense forces veterans and their family members in the Batumi municipality.
Professor Nino Karanadze, Head of the Department of Ophthalmology of TSMU, invited lecturer Ketevan Tkebuchava and laboratory specialist Nino Jankarashvili examined and diagnosed 152 beneficiaries. In an effort to improve health outcomes and increase access to medical services, a total of 304 pairs of eyeglasses and 22 glucometers were distributed free of charge to war veterans and their family members living in Batumi municipality.
The Department of Ophthalmology of TSMU and the Lions Eye Diabetic Clinic – Georgia signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2016, facilitated by the State Service for Veterans Affairs. Under this memorandum, over the past eight years, the TSMU Department of Ophthalmology and the Lions Eye Diabetic Clinic – Georgia have jointly organized a total of 30 charitable medical campaigns. During this period, they have provided qualified medical assistance to 3,506 beneficiaries.
