The Tbilisi State Medical University Theater "Hygia" has garnered international recognition. With the support of RE Production, TSMU student, amateur actors produced a short film “Ward No. 6”. Their cinematic debut has proven to be remarkably successful, achieving international acclaim.
At the International Indie Film & Screenplay Festival, “Ward No. 6 “ first advanced to the semi-finalist stage amidst intense global competition. Subsequently, based on the jury's decision, the student film was selected as a finalist in the category of Best Short Film. The festival’s final round and official awards ceremony will take place on December 4 in Vienna, Austria.
“Ward No. 6” narrates the story of a psychiatric clinic in a small town where time seems suspended and light rarely penetrates. A physician at the clinic becomes entangled in a profound dialogue with a patient, transcending the bounds of conventional conversation. As their relationship deepens, the boundaries between belief and doubt, reality and hidden depth, become increasingly obscure.
The film was shot in February by RE Production. The entire creative process, including scriptwriting, rehearsals, and filming on both indoor and outdoor locations was completed in under a month. Following editing and sound design, the authors finalized the film poster and submitted the project to international festivals under the title “WARD No. 6”.
The International Indie Film & Screenplay Festival has already issued its verdict: “WARD No. 6” has secured a place in the finals. The filmmakers now await further announcements from other international festivals in the near future.
