Medical University, together with students, academic and administrative staff,
honoured the memory of the heroes who sacrificed their lives during the August
2008 War. 17 years have passed since the tragic days of the Russia–Georgia War
of August 2008. The conflict claimed the lives of more than 200 civilians, 170
servicemen of the Georgian Armed Forces and 14 officers of the Ministry of
Internal Affairs. Nearly 150,000 people were forced to abandon their homes,
many of whom continue to live in displacement.
20% of Georgia’s territories are occupied by the Russian
Federation.
