A Cycle of Lectures on Contemporary Issues in Pediatric Neurosurgery and Pediatrics at Tbilisi State Medical University

A cycle of lectures, focusing on contemporary issues in pediatric neurosurgery and pediatrics was organized at Tbilisi State Medical University, initiated by the Departments of Child and Adolescent Medicine and Pediatric Neurology.  The goal of the event was to share practical knowledge and skills with a wide professional audience, including pediatricians, neurologists, neurosurgeons, emergency medicine specialists and radiologists.

The lecture series was delivered by Professor Shlomi Constantini, Tel Aviv University, Head of the Department of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Dana Children’s Hospital and Director of the Gilbert International Neurofibromatosis Center. Professor Shlomi Constantini’s lectures emphasized modern approaches to the management of pediatric head trauma, the practical application of endoscopic methods in the treatment of hydrocephalus and advances in the surgical management of epilepsy. Special attention was devoted to epilepsy surgery, a subject that generated significant interest among participants due to the combination of theoretical content and practical case studies. Further topics addressed included cranial deformities of relevance to pediatricians, pathologies of the lumbar spine and spinal cord, as well as the modern diagnosis and treatment of pediatric brain tumors.

The lecture series was conducted in a discussion-based format, facilitating active engagement by participants. This structure enabled the exchange of professional experiences and perspectives, thereby enriching the academic and clinical value of the event.
