Delegation of WFME and AMSE at TSMU

Professor Ricardo León-Borges, President of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME), Professor David Gordon, former WFME President and Professor Harm Peters, President of the Association of Medical Schools in Europe (AMSE) visited Tbilisi State Medical University.

Professor Irakli Natroshvili, Rector of TSMU, Aleksandre Buachidze, TSMU Chancellor and Professor Zurab Vadachkoria, Vice-Rector of TSMU presented the University’s mission, activities and organizational structure to the distinguished guests. Professor Irma Manjavidze, Head of the Clinical Skills and Multidisciplinary Simulation Center, introduced the delegation to the Center’s operations, highlighting its history, significance and teaching methodologies.

During the visit, the delegation was also acquainted with the American MD Program, established through long-standing cooperation with Emory University School of Medicine. Associate Professor Eka Ekaladze, Head of the Program, emphasized its innovative and integrated teaching model.

The visit concluded with an extended meeting, attended by the international guests and the TSMU leadership: Professor Irakli Natroshvili, Rector of TSMU, Aleksandre Buachidze, Chancellor, Professors and Vice Rectors of TSMU Zurab Vadachkoria, Rusudan Rukhadze, and  Sophia Bakhtadze, as well as Associate Professor Irina Kapetivadze, Head of the Rector’s Office, Associate Professor Eka Ekaladze, Head of the American MD Program, Professor Archil Undilashvili, Head of the International Relations Department and Salome Voronovi, Deputy Head of the Faculty Development and Strategic Planning Department of TSMU. Associate Professor Irina Kapetivadze presented the history, major directions and ongoing programs of TSMU in the format of a comprehensive presentation.
