Professor Rusudan Beriashvili, Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine of TSMU visited Tajikistan. The TSMU professor was invited by the Public Organization “The World of Law” to conduct trainings for forensic physicians, lawyers and prison doctors. The training was dedicated to the issues related to the recently revised Istanbul Protocol and implementation of the Istanbul principles, for prevention and punishment of torture, inhuman and degrading treatment cases in closed institutions and places of detention.

After completing the training, Professor Rusudan Beriashvili participated in the meeting with representatives of the Government of Tajikistan and other stakeholders - “Dialog between the State and Civil Society on Protection and Promotion of Human Rights in Tajikistan”. The parties discussed current challenges and recent achievements in human rights in Tajikistan. Moreover, main directions of future activities and action plans were outlined.
