Associate Professor Elene Pachkoria, Department of Infectious Diseases of TSMU has been enrolled in the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) Postgraduate Education Certificate Program in Antimicrobial Stewardship (2025–2027).
Within the framework of this certification program, Associate Professor Elene Pachkoria visited the Agostino Gemelli University Hospital in Rome, Italy, on October 2–3, 2025, where she participated in the educational activities organized as part of the program.
During the training process particular attention was devoted to modern principles of antimicrobial management, the impact of rapid diagnostic testing on the rational use of antibiotics and the importance of diagnostic algorithms in the effective management of respiratory tract and bloodstream infections. As part of the program’s practical component, participants discussed clinical cases and the challenges of managing antimicrobial therapy — an experience that contributes to improving the quality of patient care and promoting the implementation of evidence-based approaches in clinical practice.
