On November 21, 2025, division of grants and contracts of Tbilisi State Medical University organized a workshop “From Idea to Impact: Crafting Smart Proposals in Biomedical Research,” organized within the DAAD-funded project: "Preparing Georgian students of medicine and biology for scientific careers in life sciences and medicine"

The workshop guided students through the essential steps of transforming an initial research idea into a clear and impactful project proposal. Participants explored how to identify meaningful scientific problems, review existing evidence, and understand the concept of impact in biomedical research. A key part of the session focused on developing SMART objectives and aligning research methods with feasibility and expected outcomes.

Students actively engaged in group exercises, including drafting SMART objectives, analyzing strong vs. weak research aims, and preparing short elevator pitches to present their ideas. These activities helped strengthen their skills in clarity, structure, and effective scientific communication.

The workshop concluded with practical take-home principles emphasizing the importance of well-defined problems, measurable objectives, feasible methodology, and concise communication. Students were encouraged to continue refining their research ideas, with the facilitator offering further guidance on draft proposals.
