“How Georgia Is Leveraging Medical Education to Create Better Healthcare and Better Jobs,” the World Bank has published an article on its education blog highlighting ongoing reforms in Georgia’s medical education system and their role in strengthening the national healthcare sector.
The publication places particular emphasis on Tbilisi State Medical University as one of the principal centers of transformation in medical education in Georgia and as a leading institution actively engaged in implementing a modern model of medical education.
According to the article, TSMU has progressively transitioned to a competency-based education model, strengthened clinical training components, and actively integrated modern educational technologies into the teaching process. Collectively, these reforms aim to enhance students’ clinical reasoning, practical skills, and professional competencies in alignment with international standards. The publication also underscores the University’s strong international partnerships.
In the World Bank’s assessment, such approaches in medical education contribute not only to improving the quality of medical training but also to fostering the sustainable development of the healthcare system and preparing highly qualified medical professionals.
The article further discusses projects implemented by TSMU with the support of the World Bank.
